Stanley G. Hall Sitting Room
General Manager, 1989-present
Stanley Hall began his East Broad Top career by helping to reopen the line in the summer of 1960, and he has worked for the East Broad Top continuously since that time. Having capably performed at one time or another virtually every operating and non-operating job on the railroad, Hall became the current General Manager in 1989 upon the retirement of C. R. Wilburn. Under Hall’s leadership as General Manager, numerous steps have been taken to preserve the historic railroad as an operating entity. These include, among many others, the conversion of an additional three flat cars and a boxcar for passenger service, extensive repairs and stabilization of the historic shop complex in Rockhill, and the complete rebuilding, over a four-year period, of Locomotive No. 15, enabling many future years of steam operation. A key accomplishment has been the creation of the cooperative volunteer program at Rockhill with the Friends of the East Broad Top, which has made available many thousands of hours of volunteer effort to preserve, restore and interpret the important East Broad Top historic landmark. |
Our second floor sitting room is located directly off the bedrooms; a nice location to enjoy a beverage and read a book. |
